DKS Associates Electrical Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Electrical Engineer This position will perform a broad and interesting variety of electrical engineering work in support of transportation projects for multiple DKS offices. An important part of this position will be transportation electrification projects, including the planning and/or design of EV charging infrastructure installation for light, medium and heavy-duty fleets, public, workplace and residential charging.  Another important part of the position will be electrical and power design for traffic signal, lighting and ITS elements for public agencies. Our ideal candidate will possess their Electrical Engineer PE (preferably California), and have knowledge in multiple areas, such as: 

  • AC and DC EV charging hardware 
  • EV charging software including load management 
  • Electrical systems planning and design
  • Bi-directional charging (Vehicle to grid integration) 
  • Distributed Energy Resources including solar and battery energy storage
  • Load forecasting
  • Power service design for traffic signal, lighting and ITS

What will you be doing?

  • Preparing design plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for projects that may include fleet operations, EV charging hardware, electrical systems, bidirectional charging, and traffic signal, street lighting  and ITS elements such as CMS, CCTV, Traffic detection system  (preferred).
  • Coordinating with electrical utilities regarding power upgrades.
  • Attending and leading client and project team meetings to provide project updates, resolve planning and design issues, and coordinate design elements with other disciplines

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of experience in the energy industry, utilities, electrical engineering, or similar field
  • A/E Industry project management or task lead experience required
  • Electrical Engineer PE required; CA Electrical Engineer preferred
  • Strong research and data analysis skills
  • Strong working knowledge  with National Electric Codes (NEC) and Building Codes
  • Experience with Caltrans/WSDOT/ODOT design standard/specification (preferred)
  • Critical thinking
  • Curiosity and eagerness to be an industry thought leader
  • Understanding of electrical design related to AC and DC charging preferred
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • GIS and data analysis skills preferred
  • Willing to work across offices and travel for projects as needed.
