Meta Electrical Test Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.As an Electrical Test Engineer at Meta, you will be responsible for leading test for the latest RL-R products/prototypes, specifically around the electrical systems/subsystems. This role requires a deep understanding of a variety of electrical components, subsystems, and the tools/test equipment needed to each. Also important is good communication skills with internal and external teams/vendors and abilities to drive test frameworks, test case implementation, and certain FA activities. As with many in the Research org, a successful engineer in this role must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

Electrical Test Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop test solutions to support HW validation of RL-R products throughout the entire development cycle: early prototyping, NFF bring-up, Form-Factor design, and production volume/scaling. Scope includes power, haptics, image sensors, inertial sensors, battery life, high-speed serial buses, etc.

  2. Write tooling in Python and other programming languages to interact with devices under test, standard lab equipment, custom instrumentation, and datasets.

  3. Develop new capabilities to enable analysis of test data, providing a clear view of system level performance against spec targets.

  4. Work with validation team, design engineers, and other cross-functional teams to drive development of test automation infrastructure based on business needs.

  5. Understand project goals, participate in engineering design reviews, provide DFT input, and deliver results toward system validation objectives.

  6. Maintain and troubleshoot existing test infrastructure, working closely with cross functional teams to root cause and address failures.

  7. Develop tools that enable periodic deployment of software builds, execution of tests at the hardware level and data analysis as part of an end-to-end automation framework.

  8. Domestic and or International travel up to 10%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, related technical field or equivalent work experience.

  2. 5+ years of experience in component/system level testing, hardware testing, and software test tool development.

  3. Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques to verify and validate product requirements.

  4. Proficiency in Python with familiarity of best practices (linting, typing, unit testing, etc.) Project management skills to track and communicate status of all project work.

  5. Experience using version control (SVN, Git, hg, etc.).

  6. Experience applying statistical concepts and methods to analyze test data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in Consumer Electronics, low power, or AR/VR-class battery powered devices.

  2. Understanding of electrical schematics and system architecture to analyze and improve test coverage at system level.

  3. Experience working with Qualcomm chipsets for mobile applications.

  4. Experience developing Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines for testing of hardware devices.

  5. Experience with Python testing frameworks (unittest, pytest, OpenHTF, etc.).

  6. Experience with automating Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems (LabJack, National Instruments DAQmx, DEWESoft, etc.).

  7. Experience with SQL and database schema creation.

Public Compensation:

$129,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
