WSP USA Project Controls Specialist in Port Hope, Ontario

The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a dedicated Project Controls Specialist to oversee project timelines and deliverables on one of our Port Hope projects. As a member of the Remediation group, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your education and experience on complex projects. Your role will involve managing multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Additionally, you’ll gain knowledge through mentorship and skills development, with the potential for professional growth and a PMP designation.

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) . The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope & Clarington.

Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based on-site at the project site in Port Hope, Ontario

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will collaborate with the project team, including the WSP team, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • You will work daily with Primavera P6 to prepare engineering and procurement schedules for major projects.

  • You will plan sequence of operations, develop the baselines to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion deadlines, perform labour forecasting and levelling, identify the critical path, revise schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

  • You will coordinate and update schedules with actual progress and forecast remaining durations, project milestones, and completion dates.

  • You will develop and implement earned value systems that accurately measure project progress and performance.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • University Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management or Business Administration, Finance or a combination of education and industry experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Planning / Scheduling role supporting major projects using Primavera P6

  • Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change;

  • Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities;

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Outlook. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or MS Project skills is an asset;

  • Must be eligible for CNL Reliability Stauts security clearance ( individual must have 3 full years of verifiable history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia ).
