Summary:

Miller Industries is seeking to fill the position ofRobotic Automation Technicianto troubleshoot, disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment and perform preventive or corrective maintenance to ensure maximum use of robotic functionality and to reduce downtime. This position is based in our Ooltewah, Tn manufacturing facility and will be a part of our Maintenance/Facilities department. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all aspects automated equipment and robots. The Robotic Automation Technician will be responsible for ensuring a strong preventative maintenance program is followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics. Determine causes of operational problems or failures.
  • Disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors.
  • Assemble equipment or components.
  • Maintain electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Maintain service records of robotic equipment or automated production systems.
  • Maintain operational records or records systems.
  • Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, or conveyors.
  • Program robotic equipment.
  • Document robotics test procedures and results.
  • Prepare procedural documents.
  • Document design or operational test results.
  • Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes.
  • Attach wires between controllers.
  • Test performance of robotic assemblies, using instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or bridges.
  • Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Modify computer-controlled robot movements.
  • Build or assemble robotic devices or systems.
  • Assist engineers in the design, configuration, or application of robotic systems.
  • Train robots, using artificial intelligence software or interactive training techniques, to perform simple or complex tasks, such as designing and carrying out a series of iterative tests of chemical samples.
  • Inspect installation sites.
  • Maintain inventories of production supplies such as sensors and cables.
  • Fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, or fixtures, using metalworking machines.
  • Develop three-dimensional simulations of automation systems using Robot Studio to ensure accurate and efficient robot programming, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in designing and developing future production capacities by attending production and team meetings.
  • Stay informed of manufacturing/product changes and improvements through regular updates provided via team meetings, email, or internal communication platforms. Utilize this information to update maintenance operating procedures and schedules, ensuring minimal downtime for the facility or the manufacturing process.

Qualifications:

  • Capable of repairing and servicing fabrication equipment and machines such as water jets, plasmas, lathes and laser cutting equipment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be capable of fully utilizing and embracing all technology - PCs, software programs and proprietary systems.
  • Flexibility to travel is essential, as this role involves providing support and sharing expertise across our multiple plant locations. The Robotic Automation Technician will be expected to collaborate with teams at various sites, ensuring the seamless integration and maintenance of our robotic systems.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or three to five years of relative and verifiable experience and/or training; or equivalent 2-4 years education; or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Associates degree in an Engineering discipline, Business Administration, Industrial Management, or a related field, or 60 credit hours coursework completed towards one of these programs, plus one to four years related experience, or equivalent combination of job relevant certifications, education, and experience.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate computer skills. Experience with LN or other comparable Enterprise (ERP) system desired.
