ABOUT THE JOB: Under general supervision of the Safety Manager, this Intern will work closely with the Safety Manager to complete safety-related, project-based assignments, provide safety knowledge, administrative support, and other support, where needed. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical.  During the internship, the Intern will learn how to take skills acquired in school and apply them in a manufacturing setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain OSHA compliance;
  • Updated required safety programs (i.e., LOTO, Confined space, etc.)
  • Conduct onsite audits.
  • Follow-up and work with management to identify and correct deficiencies.
  • Participate in compliance requests and activities.
  • Provide reports and be a resource to management and employees.
  • Completed Job Safety Analyses.
  • Assist in hands on training, such as New Hire safety orientations.
  • Required to develop a presentation of the projects and lessons learned during the internship. This presentation will be delivered to members of management near the end of the internship.
  • Ability and desire to work well with personnel at all levels of the organization;
  • Abide by all policies and procedures established by the Company;
  • Meet attendance requirements;
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

EDUCATION:  Candidate should be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a safety related major.  

EXPERIENCE:  Must have completed at least freshman year.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be willing to conduct safety audits in an industrial setting; Must have knowledge of OSHA standards for general industry.  Must have strong interpersonal skills.  Must have strong organizational skills.  Must have strong communication, both verbal and written.  Must be able to act objectively and within the strictest environment of confidentiality.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule, when necessary.  Ability to travel regionally on occasion; reliable transportation and valid driver's license required. Will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation. Urine and hair follicle drug screening will be required upon offer of employment. Qualifications
