Position Overview:

XL Specialized Trailers is looking for talented candidates to fill a new opening for a Continuous Improvement Engineer for our team. This role will serve as a subject matter expert (SME's) to lead the implementation and maturation of strategic XL Lean processes. In addition, this person will serve as a technical resource with whom our leadership team can consult for guidance and assistance with lean related concerns.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and leveraging best practices in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement-related processes

  • Assisting in development of our 'everything done with a process' strategy and identifying opportunities for improvement across the organization

  • Evaluating and interpreting both industry requirements and internal Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with the goal of developing robust XL procedures and instructions.

  • Helping site Quality teams and / or senior Quality leadership as subject matter expert (SME) to investigate and correct quality issues and establish continuous improvement opportunities

  • Lead and facilitate projects generated from our High-Performance Team Board process.

  • Lead and facilitate installation and implementation of ISO-9001 quality management systems.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Successfully leverages experience supporting manufacturing, product and/or customer quality processes to implement process improvements

  • Utilizes knowledge and expertise to provide input to and influence the development, application, and maintenance of prevention, root cause corrective action, quality control systems, and protocols

  • Facilitates, communicates, and visualizes process flows for stakeholders and teams

  • Functional, matrixed teams to achieve project implementation

  • Builds relationships with various levels of leadership and individual contributors and influences culture by leveraging change management skills

  • Implements projects using demonstrated proactive project management skills and risk mitigation techniques

  • Solution focused - Designs and delivers solutions that meet organizational needs and bring value to the organization

  • Leads efforts and development with minimal oversight, sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder

  • 10% travel

  • Engineering degree required.

  • Communicates with and to all levels of the organization - clear and concise objectives, identifies and share risks and opportunities, ability to create value statement

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in ISO-9000 and internal auditing

  • CORE, Lean, or Six-Sigma experience

  • Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
