Los Alamos National Laboratory W93 Action Officer (Quality Assurance Analyst 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The mission of the W93/Mk7 Program Office is to enable technical success through programmatic excellence.

As a Quality Assurance Analyst in the W93/Mk7 Program Office, you will be responsible for developing and managing the communication and action resolution processes for several cross site working groups, managing internal and external action identification, tracking, and resolution efforts, planning, coordinating and facilitating multi-organizational meetings.

The successful candidate will have an extensive network within Los Alamos National Laboratory and the ability to develop a collaborative network across multiple National Nuclear Security Agency Design and Production Agencies and Department of Defense staff and contractors.The selected individual will have outstanding communication skills, successful meeting planning and facilitation experience, superior organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to work well in a diverse team and programmatic staff.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with nuclear weapons complex technical business practices (DPBPS) and DOE and NNSA requirements as they pertain to nuclear weapons product realization and qualification.

  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing electronic tools to track, prioritize, and ensure completion of work.

  • Advanced experience with configuration management and quality control pertaining to, data gathering and process improvement activities.

  • Demonstrated experience in researching, assembling, and evaluating information or data and compiling it in a way (document or briefing) that can be shared with internal and external audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with staff at all levels, translating management expectations and requirements into tactical actions to fulfill strategic vision.

  • Demonstrated experience interacting within a large team, with technical staff, and supporting customers from diverse backgrounds to ensure high-quality service.

  • Proven ability to work independently, make decisions and be accountable within assigned area of responsibility, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Experience coordinating and hosting classified meetings of various sizes with internal and external visitors.

Education and Experience: Position requires a bachelors degree and 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education ans experience directly related to this occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Q Clearance

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM field

  • Formal project management training or education with the ability to obtain a Project Management Professional certification within 2 years

This position will be required to work onsite and will have access to the 5/40 or 9/80 schedules

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-chg1-pgchg) for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
