Position Summary:

Arkansas State University (A-State) is seeking to hire a Title IX Investigator/Deputy Title IX Coordinator. This position is central to the strategic goals of the university to create a safe and welcoming campus environment for all. As a leader within the Office of Title IX and Institutional Equity, the Title IX Investigator is responsible for conducting thorough, neutral, objective, and prompt investigations of allegations of sexual harassment discrimination including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking in accordance with university policies, Title IX, VAWA, ADA, Clery, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, federal law, and Arkansas state law.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility for this position is managing the daily responsibilities associated with conducting investigations of incidents, as reported to and in close collaboration with the Director of Title IX and Institutional Equity. The Title IX Investigator will also support the development and delivery of education and prevention programs and work collaboratively with campus partners to promote A-State’s mission and build trust with campus constituents.

  • · Personally conduct investigations under the direction of the Director of Title IX and Institutional Equity, including, but not limited to, conducting interviews of parties and witnesses, analyzing complaints to identify allegations and witnesses, gathering and securing relevant documentation and other evidence, drafting detailed reports, synthesizing and analyzing the evidence gathered, and participating in university proceedings related to complaints involving students, faculty, and staff.

  • · Collaborate with the Director of Title IX and Institutional Equity and university partners to identify and address any systemic problems.

  • · Work with other university stakeholders to ensure the office's policies are updated in accordance with federal and state law, and communicated to all constituencies (students, faculty, and staff).

    Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent investigative, research, analytical, and oral communication skills.

Ability to draft thorough and detailed reports by applying logical reasoning to assess complex information.

Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Ability to remain neutral and objective while handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and compassion.

High level of personal and professional ethics.

Experience collecting information in a way that is both efficient and people oriented (i.e., trauma informed and supportive).

Well-developed oral and written language skills to facilitate clear communication.

Ability to act both independently and collaboratively and to exercise sound judgment.

Knowledge of computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Minimum Qualifications:

An Earned Master’s Degree or other advanced degree in a related field with five (5) years of related experience.

Certifications in Title IX, Clery, and knowledgeable experience with laws, regulations, and polices important to higher education institutions (e.g., Title IX, Clery, Title VII, Section 504 of the Rehabilitations Act, the ADA, the FMLA, VAWA, and FERPA).

Three (3) years' experience in conducting complaint, incident and/or grievance investigations involving Title IX, judicial affairs, social work/services, sexual assault, sexual misconduct, civil rights, law enforcement, or discrimination complaints.

Knowledge of and experience with Maxient.

Experience conducting investigations in a higher education environment.
