Reference #: 4366760 THE POSITION Are you an undergraduate or graduate-level student interested in communications, media relations, writing, and media monitoring? Would you like to gain hands-on communications experience working within Pennsylvania's Office of the Governor? If so, consider applying to the Office of Communications! We are looking for one intern for the upcoming 2024 Summer session. The internship is expected to run late May 2024 through August 2024.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Office of Communications is charged with leading the Governor's communications strategy and telling the story of the Shapiro Administration - from making state government work for Pennsylvanians, to creating economic opportunities for all, to making Pennsylvania communities safer. We work with newspapers and media outlets across the state to tell the story of the Shapiro Administration and the work every Department does to make a daily difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians. This position will give you the experience in all areas of communications and media relations, including helping to track media inquiries, monitoring news coverage, writing media advisories, as well as press releases. There will be time and space to develop expertise within our internal departments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Potential part-time or full-time internship, 25 to 37.5 hours per week. Work schedule will be flexible within 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Note: You may have the option to work in-person or hybrid, depending on the needs of both the intern and the office. Some level of reporting in-person is required. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Spring of 2024 graduates may also be considered for this program. Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university. Additional Requirements: Studying or graduated with a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, government, English, public policy, political science, journalism, or similar major or degree program. You must be able to perform essential job functions. How to Apply: Your application must include a resume.
