Product quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Owns/influences budgets and operating plans. The role is guided by operating policy. Works with cross functional teams. The role has autonomy within the operational area or a segment within a larger business unit. The role may have a major impact on a small business unit or Family within a Function or P&L. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of direct reports with Ownership including both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.

  • Lead technical and NDT inspection teams with strategic mindset to continue to develop site inspection into a world class organization.

  • Communicate, monitor and maintain site compliance as Compliance Leader with focus on the Spirit and the Letter of GE Aerospace.

  • Has the ability to attract and retain talent providing professional or thought leadership . Influences policy and ensures delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the organization. Supports the integration of Lean and Quality to optimize the use of Lean and quality tools. Monitor, coach and coordinate the delivery of training on topics such as RCCA, PFMEA, Print to Planning, process improvements, MSA, capability studies and digital solutions. Leverage resources and expertise from across the Part Family and other sites.

  • Deep understanding and capability with the ability to coach on the Aerospace Quality System and drive ownership and accountability on all levels of an organization

  • Leads others to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Employs sophisticated operational/product management, manufacturing or engineering techniques. Interaction with adjacent functions needed to solve issues. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

  • Lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Presents business or technical discipline solutions to leaders. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of Manufacturing experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven track record of high levels of shop floor engagement and leader of a cultural change. Change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization

  • Working experience in a regulated, union environment

  • Proven understanding of key Quality improvement and lean tools, including problem solving and RCCA, Mistake Proofing, PFMEA

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Self-motivated leader with ability to motivate others and achieve results

  • Demonstrated commitment for process improvement

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification or equivalent Quality certification
