As part of a team dedicated to developing and implementing new Lean concepts within the plant, the Continuous Improvement Team Development Leader will coach team representatives, team facilitators, supervisors, and Managers in order to further implement an advanced team concept model that will help drive the Continuous Improvement way of working in all areas of the New River Valley Plant.

The successful candidate in this position will work with all levels inside the plant from the Leadership Team down to the operator on the shop floor. They will also work within the Volvo Performance System (VPS) networks to study and reinforce Lean concepts at the local and regional level.

International Travel is required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement team deployment procedures / written documents

  • Coach Team Representatives, Team Facilitators, Supervisors, and Managers on what their role is within the advanced team way of working (shop floor management)\

  • Train and coach Directors, Managers, and Supervisors in their roles to develop and support a Continuous Improvement culture that encourages all employees to identify, solve problems and eliminate wastes

  • Responsible for developing all aspects of shop floor management

  • Coaching and promoting cross function engagement all level in organization (E2E Alignment)

  • Formulated Safety & Environment culture

  • Flow Thinking. Create maximum value with minimum waste.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or similar

  • Five (5) years of Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment with educational requirements; preferably in automotive or trucking

  • Eight (8) years of Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment without educational requirements; preferably in automotive or trucking

  • Education in safety, production, supply chain, logistics, lean, engineering, project management, or equivalent

  • Proficient in Lean tools and concepts or six sigma

  • Proactive coaching and change management skills with a strong drive to improve

  • Demonstrated experience and success in application of Continuous Improvement philosophies, tools, and techniques

  • Demonstrated success in assisting in problem solving projects and initiatives, ability to manage multiple priorities, a focus on action

  • Solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Power BI

  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the English language
