Financial Accountant

Accounting & European Reporting Team, Dublin

How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Financial Accountant within the Dublin Finance Team will be assigned cross function responsibilities spanning Global Shared Services (Month end Accounting, Balance Sheet reviews and Analytics), European Financial Reporting (Regulatory, Statutory and Internal Reporting) and Project work as required. Each accountant within the Accounting & European Reporting team will have specific responsibility for a functional area, providing SME support to the wider team.

The role will involve both working independently and within the local and global finance teams to ensure successful completion of high-quality deliverables in compliance with the internal control environment.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Shared Services

• Responsible for production and review of assigned responsibilities for Monthly and Quarterly close activities.

• Responsible for coordinating issue resolution and liaison with upstream operations and underwriting teams for process improvement.

• Responsible for addressing queries arising from various departments including Corporate, Treasury, Tax, Segment Finance and Legal Entity Controllers.

• Continuous review of current processes to identify opportunities for standardization or transformation.

European Financial Reporting

• Support the production of Finance inputs to the quarterly and annual Solvency II returns including Statutory ledger close and reconciliation.

• Support the production of various other ancillary statistical returns, regulatory filings and surveys for the European entities.

• Responsible for preparation and review of subsidiary annual financial statements.

• Preparation of technical papers to support quarterly and annual reporting.

• Co-ordinating and working with Actuarial, Investments, Risk, Risk Funding and other teams to ensure completion of required reporting, issue resolution and implementation of process enhancements.

Other Activities

• Involvement in managing the offshore relationship and deliverables in respect of activities supporting the Accounting & European Reporting team.

• Support the External and Internal Audit process.

• Management and support of technical accounting issue resolution and evolving accounting guidance including preparation of technical memos and escalation and presentation of issues where relevant to Management.

• Collaborate in cross-functional processes and special projects as required to support business initiatives.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

• Qualified / Part Qualified accountant with 2-4 years’ experience.

• Good understanding of Irish GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP reporting requirements.

• Good understanding of SOX compliance requirements with respect to financial reporting processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to work from the office 3 days per week, travel requirements will be limited.
